PRIN: Role of Habitat Degradation and Food Web Structure in Carbon Sequestration Performance of Wetlands
The PRIN-Carbon Sequestration project investigates wetlands, ecosystems known for their vital contributions to biodiversity, climate stability, and carbon sequestration. Despite their crucial role, wetlands face severe threats from anthropogenic pressures and climate change, which compromise their ability to store carbon and provide ecosystem services.
Through a multi-faceted approach, including hydrological modeling, food web analysis, and vegetation assessment, this project aims to advance our understanding of how habitat degradation affects carbon storage. By exploring wetlands under varied levels of environmental pressure, the research also addresses wetland resilience and contributes valuable insights to guide European conservation policies
